An Analogue Story with a Happy Digital Ending
The story of my passion for beautiful sound dates back more than 40 years. In the meantime, heavy DIY horn speakers the size of cupboards, modified idler-wheel turntables, converted 12-inch pick-up arms, enhanced MC pick-ups, legendary MC transformers, miscellaneous tube and FET preamplifiers with Tango RIAA Modules and many a home-assembled single-ended or push-pull triode power amplifier have made way to a minimalist set, i.e. the SCHÖNKLANG series featuring a Combination of USB-DAC / passive preamplifier / Class D amplifier, two full-range driver speakers and dedicated cables. Along the way, I’ve been helped by many an audiophile pioneer such as Jean Hiraga, William Walther, Joe Roberts, Nobu K. Shishido, Jean Constant Verdier, Keith Aschenbrenner, Dieter Ennemoser, Yeo of DIY Paradise, Bernard Salabert, Bruno Putzeys, Serge Schmidlin, Perry Pecker and a lot of DAC aficionados at the web. What would a journey be without companions sharing the experience?
